$35 to come out. Honest ranges before we start.
You should know roughly what a Brisbane locksmith costs before you call. So here's what most jobs typically cost, with what changes the price and what's not included.
What the $35 covers, and what it doesn't.
$35 gets us in the van and on the way to you. It covers travel inside our service radius and the on-site diagnosis. The work itself, picking the lock, rekeying, installing new hardware, is quoted on the doorstep, in writing, before a tool comes out of the kit. If you don't want to go ahead after we've seen the job, you pay the $35 and that's it.
Indicative price ranges
Ranges, not fixed quotes. Every job is different and we'd rather under-promise on the call than surprise you on the kerb.
| Service | Typical range | What changes the price | Not included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emergency lockout (house / apartment / office) | $99–$220 | Plus $35 call-out. After midnight call-outs may add a surcharge, quoted on the call. | Lock replacement, rekeying. |
| Car lockout: standard | $120–$220 | Plus $35 call-out. Older cars and wafer locks usually toward the lower end. | Smart-key or transponder replacement. |
| Car lockout: smart / keyless | $180–$380 | Plus $35 call-out. Depends on whether the fob can be powered or needs replacement. | Dealer-only programming. |
| Lock rekey (per cylinder) | $99–$165 | Plus $35 call-out. Most homes have two to four cylinders. | New hardware: that's a replacement. |
| Deadbolt installation | $220–$320 | Hardware included. Price varies by lock brand and door condition. | Smart locks (quoted separately). |
| Master-key system (commercial) | from $450 | Quoted on site after a free walk-through. Restricted blanks held on file. | Door hardware beyond cylinder counts. |
Price ranges are indicative. The operator confirms the exact figure pre-launch. Values may shift slightly on final sign-off.
Four things bump the figure either way.
- The lock you've got. A standard residential cylinder is cheap; a high-security restricted cylinder costs more in pins and time.
- The time of day. After-midnight emergency calls add a small surcharge, quoted on the call before we leave.
- Parts. If a job needs new hardware (new cylinder, new lever set, new strike plate), we add the part cost and tell you the total before we fit it.
- Complexity. A snapped key in a lock, a corroded mortice, or a door that won't sit in the frame all add time. We tell you the new figure before we keep going.
No surprise charges. No nonsense.
We walk you through what's happening before we start, because it's your money and your home, not ours. If the job changes, we stop, tell you what's changed, and tell you what the new figure looks like before we keep going.
